The majority of injuries we see at South Tipp Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic are musculoskeletal injuries.
These include any injuries that are incurred to muscle, ligament, tendon, joint, blood vessels and nerves.
The most common cause of musculoskeletal injury is physical overload, either from overtraining or repetitive movement causing stress on a soft tissue or joint. Every sport has potential for these injuries and many work positions and activities may also contribute to overuse. Posture, flexibility, strength and technique are all important factors to be considered when this type of injury occurs.
At South Tipp Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, we treat many people with muscle tension from poor posture sitting at a desk, prolonged driving and repetitive movements. This can lead to trapped nerve, which is generally felt as pain radiating into an arm or leg and may have associated pins and needles or numbness.
Physiotherapy treatments such as manual soft tissue release, joint manipulation and postural correction work well to relieve this pressure.
